About Flexboard
Did you know that Flexboard is a family-owned business?
The very first Flexboard prototype was created in our own home in Zurich — not in a lab or an office, but right in the middle of family life. At the time, our kids were 2 and 5 years old, and honestly… we were struggling.
Between daycare schedules, school activities, work calendars, and everyday to-dos, our days felt messy and unpredictable. We wanted family life to feel smoother, calmer, and more organized — but instead, we were juggling appointments, missing details, and occasionally double-booking ourselves (oops).
Flexboard was born out of that very real, very personal need:
to bring structure, clarity, and calm into our everyday life.
With two young kids, parents working, and responsibilities shared between us, misunderstandings and schedule clashes happened more often than we liked. And to be completely honest — when the idea of adding “just another tool” to our home came up, mommy was very skeptical.
But the first prototype was installed anyway by Dad… And then something unexpected happened. We loved it!
Suddenly, our day started with one simple glance at the wall.
We all could immediately see:
- what appointments were coming up
- which to-dos mattered today
- and how to prepare everyone for the day ahead
One of our favorite features? The weather widget.
A quick look in the morning tells us how the weather will be — and instantly I know how to dress the kids and ourselves.
And then there’s the photo carousel. Let’s just say… photobooks didn’t survive Flexboard. 😉

Fun fact: Flexboard’s founder and creator is a biochemical scientist, and the idea behind it is deeply rooted in how our brains actually work. As cognitive neuroscientist Daniel J. Instead, it evolved to perceive, decide, act — and return to balance.
